Project initiation and feasibility

The opportunity to shape and influence project success is greatest at the start—when your project is just an idea. We specialize in helping clients implement robust RIBA Plan of Works framework systems and processes that drive efficiency and success from the project Initiation phases, particularly establishing the client brief, project feasibility, project planning, and the project team. Proven industry best practices and a structured approach transform concepts into realistic, high-value projects based on data-driven decision-making and risk mitigation.

RIBA Stage 0: Strategic definition
At this stage, CPMNZ is involved only with the client team. We can add value primarily by advising on how to set up development under the RIBA framework and then help develop the Client Requirements and Business Case.
RIBA Stage 0 is not about design or practical details; it focuses on making the right strategic decisions and capturing them in a Business Case.
In addition, we can Identify Project Outcomes, list the pros and cons for multiple solutions, Project Risks, and Project budgets for various options before the client undertakes a comparative analysis and ratifies the best choice for delivering the project.

RIBA Stage 1: Preparation and Briefing

Once Stage 0 has determined that a building project is the best means of achieving the Client Requirements, the project is considered in more detail in connection with a specific site, and the outcomes are recorded in the Project Brief, which we can assist with. The Project Brief contains guidance on Project Outcomes, Sustainability Outcomes, and Quality Aspirations. At that point, we can advise on the Procurement Strategy, how to assemble the right project team and ensure that key milestones are aligned with the Project Programme we could propose.
